FROM:

IN RE:
HB795 by Johnson (Relating to the punishment for the offense of aggravated assault.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would increase the criminal penalty for the offense of aggravated assault from a second degree felony to a first degree felony if the actor commits the offense while being inside of or directly en route to or from a motor vehicle and, in discharging of the firearm, causes damages to any property or places any person in fear of imminent serious bodily injury.

It is assumed that any impact on state correctional populations or on the demand for state correctional resources would not be significant.

Local Government Impact

It is assumed that any fiscal impact to units of local government associated with enforcement, prosecution, supervision, or confinement would not be significant.
