Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 89TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 27, 2025

TO:
Honorable Dustin Burrows, Speaker of the House, House of Representatives

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1500 by Bell, Keith (Relating to the continuation and functions of the Department of Information Resources, including the composition of the governing body of the department and, in collaboration with the comptroller, the administration of state assistance opportunities.), As Passed 2nd House

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would continue the Department of Information Resources (DIR) for 12 years and require DIR to implement recommendations by the Sunset Commission. The bill would require the Comptroller, in coordination with DIR, to develop an electronic advertising system to post state assistance opportunities on the Electronic State Business Daily, authorizing institutions of higher education, university systems, and health and human services agencies to post the advertisements. It is assumed that any costs associated with implementation of the bill's provisions could be absorbed using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
