Honorable Lacey Hull, Chair, House Committee on Human Services
FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB1941 by Campos (Relating to peer support specialists for certain individuals with an intellectual or developmental disability and peer services for those individuals under Medicaid.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to provide Medicaid reimbursement for peer support services provided to individuals with an intellectual or developmental disability. The bill would require HHSC to establish and obtain input from a stakeholder work group to develop and adopt rules related to the new benefit.
According to HHSC, additional full-time equivalents would be required to implement the provisions of the bill, and there would be client services costs associated with the new benefit. This analysis assumes that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
