No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would create the offense of making a false or misleading written statement in an application to obtain a benefit under a public assistance program. The criminal penalty ranges from a Class C misdemeanor to a first degree felony, depending on the value of the benefit.
It is assumed that any impact on state correctional populations or on the demand for state correctional resources would not be significant.
