LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE, 89TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION
April 20, 2025
TO:
Honorable Morgan Meyer, Chair, House Committee on Ways & Means
FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB3199 by Craddick (Relating to the requirement that certain ad valorem tax-related notices be delivered to a property owner by certified mail.), As Introduced
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require the tax collector for a taxing unit to deliver certain notices regarding delinquency and penalties for delinquencies by certified mail.
Local Government Impact
To the extent that tax collectors are delivering the relevant notices through a less expensive means than certified mail, there would be increased costs to tax collectors associated with the requirement to use certified mail proposed by the bill.
