LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 89TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 8, 2025

TO:
Honorable Ken King, Chair, House Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3237 by Turner (Relating to certain energy consumption goals for institutions of higher education and certain governmental entities.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require political subdivisions, institutions of higher education, and state agencies to establish a goal to reduce electric consumption by at least five percent each fiscal year for each of the next six fiscal years.

This analysis assumes that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
