No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Business and Commerce Code to prohibit the sale of dogs and cats by pet stores, except under limited circumstances. The Office of the Attorney General would be authorized to collect a civil penalty of not more than $500 per violation.
It is assumed that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.
It is also assumed any revenues collected from civil penalties would have an insignificant fiscal impact to the state.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
