No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require the chief appraiser to publish notice of a public hearing at which the board of directors of the appraisal district will consider the appraisal district budget on the home of page of the county appraisal district's website, or on the home page of the county's website, if the county appraisal district does not maintain a website; or on the official social media page for the appraisal district, or on the county's official social media page, if the appraisal district does not maintain a social media page, in addition to publishing the notice in a newspaper having general circulation in the county. The notice must be published no later than 10 days before the date of the public hearing on the appraisal district's budget. The chief appraiser would be required to provide notice of any change of location of the public hearing on the appraisal district's budget no later than 5 days before the hearing.
The bill would also permit a chief appraiser for an appraisal district in a county with a population of less than 20,000 to publish a notice of a public hearing to consider the appraisal district's budget solely in an online newspaper having general circulation in the county.
