FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
SB314 by Hughes (Relating to prohibiting certain food additives from being included in free or reduced-price meals provided by school districts.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
It is assumed that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.
Local Government Impact
Districts and open-enrollment charter schools may need to source alternative ingredients that do not contain the prohibited additives and train staff on the new food safety and compliance requirements. There maybe costs to districts related to making these changes, but costs would vary.
