LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 89TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 6, 2025

TO:
Honorable Paul Bettencourt, Chair, Senate Committee on Local Government

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1177 by Alvarado (Relating to fire safety inspections at public and private schools.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Texas Commission on Fire Protection to establish additional curriculum requirements relating to fire safety inspections conducted at public or private schools. While the agency has indicated the rule development process may require contracting with a medical professional, it is assumed that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
