March 25, 2025

TO:
Honorable Lois W. Kolkhorst, Chair, Senate Committee on Health & Human Services

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1677 by Menéndez (Relating to a study by the Department of State Health Services on prevention and reduction of diabetes-related amputation.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The Department of State Health Services (DSHS) has indicated conducting the study on prevention and reduction of diabetes-related amputation would require additional temporary staff time and resources. The report summarizing the results of the study and subsequent recommendations for legislative or other action would be required to be completed and submitted to the Governor and legislature not later than September 1, 2026.

It is assumed that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
