IN RE:
SB261 by Perry (Relating to a prohibition on the offering for sale and the sale of cell-cultured protein for human consumption; providing civil and criminal penalties.), Committee Report 2nd House, Substituted

The bill would create a new Class A misdemeanor offense related to the offering for sale or sale of cell-cultured protein for human consumption subject to enhancement to a state jail felony if previously convicted.

Creating a new offense may result in additional demands upon state and local correctional resources due to a possible increase in the number of individuals placed under supervision in the community or sentenced to a term of confinement.

It is assumed that any impact on state correctional populations or on the demand for state correctional resources would not be significant.
