Pursuant to a notice posted on May 8, 2025, revised on May 12, 2025, and a suspension of the 5-day posting rule on May 12, 2025, the House Committee on Public Education met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Buckley, at 8:04 a.m.

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Buckley; Ashby; Bryant; Frank; Hunter; Kerwin; Leach; Schoolcraft; and Talarico.

A quorum was present.

The Chair announced that testimony on each bill on the agenda will be limited to two hours. The Chair announced that testimony and discussion on SB 12 will conclude prior to the convening of the House of Representatives at 10:00am.

The chair laid out SB 1191.

The chair recognized Representative Harris Davila to explain SB 1191.

SB 1191 was left pending without objection.

SB 12

The chair laid out SB 12.

The chair offered a complete committee substitute.

The chair recognized Representative Leach to explain SB 12.

At 9:53 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting was recessed until upon final adjourn./recess or bill referral if permission granted. Pursuant to an announcement from the House floor, the reconvening of the meeting was cancelled.
