Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 26, 2025, and permission granted on May 26, 2025, to meet while the House was in session, the House Committee on Public Education met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative Buckley, at 12:03 p.m.

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Buckley; Bernal; Ashby; Bryant; Frank; Hinojosa; Hunter; Kerwin; Leo Wilson; and Schoolcraft.

A quorum was present.

SB 568

The chair laid out SB 568.

The chair offered a complete committee substitute.

The committee substitute was adopted without objection.

The chair moved that SB 568, as substituted, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on Local and Consent Calendars.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

Ayes:                           Representatives Buckley; Bernal; Ashby; Bryant; Frank; Hinojosa; Hunter; Kerwin; Leo Wilson; Schoolcraft (10).

Nays:                           None (0).

Present, Not Voting:   None (0).

Absent:                        Representatives Allen; Cunningham; Dutton; Leach; Talarico (5).

At 12:05 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
