Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Finance was held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.036, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 9:06 AM. The following business was transacted:

 

The chair laid out HB 3161 and recognized the Senate sponsor, Senator Adam Hinojosa, to explain the bill.

As a matter of pending business, the chair laid out SB 782 by King.  The chair laid out HB 3159 by Darby, the House companion, in lieu of SB 782. 

 

Senator Hinojosa moved that HB 3159 be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion failed with a record vote of 7 ayes, 4 nays, 0 present not voting, and 4 absent.

 

Senator Paxton submitted a motion in writing asking to be shown voting aye on HB 2434, HB 3161, HB 3486 and HB 3487.

 

Senator Perry and Senator West submitted motions in writing asking to be shown voting aye on HB 2434, HB 3161, HB 3486, HB 3487, HB 3745, HB 4044, HB 4226, HB 4945, HB 2529, HB 2688 and HB 5246.
