The committee will meet to consider pending business and the following bills:

Relating to measures to assist students enrolled at public institutions of higher education who are homeless or who are or were in foster care.

HB 2088        Martinez                                              
Relating to the establishment of a public law school in the Rio Grande Valley.

Relating to fentanyl prevention and drug poisoning awareness education for students enrolled in public institutions of higher education.

HB 3475        Perez, Vincent                                         
Relating to the establishment of a public law school in El Paso County.

HB 3741        Shofner | et al.                                       
Relating to requiring a sworn statement by certain foreign students enrolled at or employees of public institutions of higher education.

HB 4279        Davis, Yvonne                                         
Relating to the urban scholarship; enforcement and authorizing penalties.

HB 4763        Olcott                                                
Relating to reports by certain public institutions of higher education on fraud, waste, and abuse involving state resources.

HB 5154        Wilson                                                
Relating to the reporting of the Joint Admission Medical Program.

HB 5294        Bonnen                                                
Relating to medical school admissions, coursework, academic standards, and employment decisions in this state.

HB 5508        Bumgarner                                             
Relating to the establishment of the Texas Film Academy to facilitate workforce development in the state's film, television, and digital media industries.

SB 1401        West                                                  
Relating to the creation of the Texas Mental Health Profession Pipeline Program by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

It is the intent of the Chair to hear testimony on HB 1784, HB 2088, HB 3062, HB 3475, HB 3741, HB 4279, HB 4763, HB 5154, HB 5294, HB 5508, and SB 1401  between 8:00AM and 10:00AM. When the committee reconvenes it will hear unfinished business from the morning, then HB 232.

 

The committee will also consider the following bill:

 

HB 232         Vasut | et al.                                         
Relating to the determination of resident status of students by public institutions of higher education.

A proposed committee substitute will be available on the Texas House of Representatives website, Committee on Higher Education page as of Friday, April 25th, 2025 at 10:00 AM.
