Remarks:This Act takes effect only if a specific appropriation for the implementation of this Act is provided in SB 1. The fiscal note for the engrossed version (which was not amended in the senate) indicates that the conference committee report for SB 1 does contain an appropriation for this purpose. Consistent with the amount indicated in the fiscal note for HB 2989, page III-82 of the Appropriations Act for the 2002-2003 biennium contains an appropriation for Strategy C.2.6 TEXAS/MEXICO BORDER HEALTH, which was not contained in the Appropriations Act for the previous biennium.
